In a candid confession, Andreeva admitted that each loss feels like the “end of the world” to her, leaving her unable to understand how some of her rivals can smile after painful defeats despite wishing she could do the same.

“Every time I lose, every time it’s like the end of the world to me. I don’t know. Sometimes I see other players, like, smile right after the defeat, right after the matches they lost. So, I don’t understand how people do it. I wish I could do it,” Andreeva said. “But every match that I lose is obviously very disappointing and very painful to me. I hope that maybe in the future this can improve and after the match that I lose I can talk about it right away and not take some time before starting to talk about it.”

Despite her disappointment, the world No. 8 acknowledged that there are positives to find in her run to the singles final and noted that she still has a chance to lift the women’s doubles trophy with partner Diana Shnaider.

“Today is a hard day, but overall, I think that when we talk with my team, I think we can take a lot of positives from this week. It’s been tough, but overall I think it was a pretty good two weeks for me and tournament is still not over, so I’m going to try to go for it in doubles tomorrow as well,” she added.

Mirra Andreeva and Shnaider face a tough test in the doubles final, as they take on No. 2 seeds Taylor Townsend and Kateřina Siniaková. Subsequently, Andreeva will turn her attention to the Italian Open, set to begin on May 5.
