Taylor Fritz balances life as a professional tennis player with being a devoted father to his son Jordan. The American tennis star became a parent at the age of 19, and that experience has shaped his perspective and approach to his career.
Now, as he competes at the highest levels of tennis, Fritz continues to navigate the challenges of fatherhood while chasing his biggest goals on court.
What Did Taylor Fritz Say About Having His Son Jordan at a Young Age?
Fritz married his high school sweetheart, Raquel Pedraza, in a private ceremony in California in 2016. Their son Jordan was born in January 2017, making Fritz a father early in his professional tennis career. The couple divorced three years later in 2019. Following Jordan’s birth, Pedraza made the decision to step away from professional tennis to focus on raising their son and has not returned to the sport since.
Pedraza had been a professional tennis player who competed on the WTA and ITF circuits. Her highest WTA ranking was 86 in 2014, which dropped to 148 in 2015 after various injuries affected her performance.
During an interview with “Haute Living” in 2023, Fritz opened up about how becoming a parent taught him valuable “time management” lessons and how to juggle multiple responsibilities. He explained the challenge of balancing his professional tennis career with being a present father to Jordan.
“I think [having a kid] taught me a lot of lessons about time management. I have to juggle all these different things. It also taught me to not care so much about other people’s opinions,” Fritz said.

Beyond the time management skills, Fritz also learned to tune out outside opinions. He revealed that when he became a father at a young age, many people questioned how it would affect his career trajectory.
The former World No. 4 said he doesn’t let such comments bother him anymore. Instead, he focuses on himself, his career, and his son Jordan.
“There was a lot of talk when I was younger. I was always very concerned about how my career would be affected, the things people were saying, and things of that nature,” he added.
How Is Fritz Performing at Wimbledon 2025?
Currently, Fritz is competing at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships with the support of his parents, coaching team, and girlfriend Morgan Riddle. His path to Wimbledon began with strong grass-court preparation. At the BOSS Open in Stuttgart, he overpowered Alexander Zverev in the finals to claim his fourth grass court title and his ninth ATP Tour singles title.
Fritz also competed in doubles at the ATP 250 grass court tournament in Stuttgart, partnering with Jiří Lehečka. They reached the semifinals before losing to the eventual runner-up duo of Alex Michelsen and Rajeev Ram.
Following Stuttgart, Fritz suffered an early exit at the 2025 Queen’s Club Championships. losing to Corentin Moutet.
At the 2025 Eastbourne Open, defending champion Fritz bounced back with strong performances, defeating João Fonseca, Marcos Giron, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, and finally, Jenson Brooksby to secure the title, his record-extending fourth at the tournament, his fifth career title on grass courts, and tenth ATP Tour title overall.
At the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, Fritz is seeded fifth and has won his way through to the semifinals, defeating the likes of Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, Gabriel Diallo, and Karen Khachanov.
In the semifinals, the American faces two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz. Fritz and Alcaraz have met twice on the ATP Tour, with the Spaniard winning both encounters. The winner will advance to face either top seed Jannik Sinner or sixth seed Novak Djokovic in the final.
