Taylor Fritz has carved out a unique path in professional tennis. Already a father and a top American player by age 27, he has learned to juggle a demanding travel schedule and the relentless pressure of elite competition. His honest reflections on growth and focus reveal a maturity beyond his years, even as he continues to chase Grand Slam success.
What Has Taylor Fritz Said About His Early Fatherhood?
The top-ranked American tennis star has a son named Jordan from his first marriage to Raquel Pedraza, a former professional tennis player who retired in 2017 to focus on motherhood after their son was born. Fritz and Pedraza were high school sweethearts who bonded over their shared love of tennis and got engaged after Fritz proposed in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
However, the couple divorced in December 2019, after three years together, with shared custody of their son, who primarily lives with Pedraza.
Reflecting on his early fatherhood and the life lessons he learned, Fritz said in 2023, “I think [having a kid] taught me a lot of lessons about time management. I have to juggle all these different things. It also taught me to not care so much about other people’s opinions.
“There was a lot of talk when I was younger. I was always very concerned about how my career would be affected, the things people were saying, and things of that nature,” he continued.

Fritz credits these experiences with accelerating his maturity and work ethic while ignoring all the negative talk. “I learned one, not to care, and two, just to handle my business and be as productive as possible. I mean, I do have more things to manage now, and I definitely had to grow up fast, but it was always going to be like that anyway.
“I was traveling the world when I was 17 to play tennis, so regardless of my own personal things, you have to grow up pretty fast in this sport anyway,” he explained.
The American continues to balance his professional career with his personal life, acknowledging the importance of maintaining stability for his son while competing at the highest level. His journey reflects the challenges and responsibilities that come with being both a top athlete and a parent, which has shaped his personal life.
As of now, Fritz is dating the social media influencer Morgan Riddle, who is often seen supporting him in the stands. The American has credited Riddle for pushing him to “stay disciplined.”
Fritz’s Impressive Performances Despite The Responsibilities
On court, Fritz’s powerful serve, peaking around 145 mph, and penetrating forehand have earned him ten ATP singles titles, including a Masters 1000 crown at the 2022 Indian Wells. As of now, he sits at world No. 4 and holds the top American men’s ranking, a career high he first achieved in November 2024. His consistent results have propelled him into the elite ranks of men’s tennis.
At the ongoing US Open, the 2024 finalist opened with a straight-sets win over compatriot Emilio Nava, prevailing 7-5, 6-2, 6-3. In the next two matches, he took four sets each, defeating Lloyd Harris and Jerome Kym to reach the round of 16, where he faces Tomáš Macháč.
