Taylor Fritz vs Quentin Halys Preview

In the opening round of the 2025 Boss Open, World No. 7 Taylor Fritz will face France’s Quentin Halys.

Fritz hasn’t had an impressive season so far, and he would look to make an impact at the ongoing grass-court swing. After an underwhelming hard-court stretch, which saw him reach the quarterfinals in Delray Beach and the semifinals in Miami, the American turned his attention to the clay-court swing.

However, Fritz failed to make an impact there as well. He started with a fourth-round finish at the Madrid Open, losing to Casper Ruud, and followed it up with a second-round exit in the Masters 1000 event in Rome. His best came at the Geneva Open, where he finished as a quarterfinalist after falling to Hubert Hurkacz.

The American then suffered a surprisingly disappointing first-round exit at the French Open, marking his most recent appearance on court. As noted, Fritz will start his grass-court swing in Stuttgart. As a No. 2 seed, he enters the ATP 250 event intending to improve his 17-10 win-loss record.

Meanwhile, Halys’ form has been similarly underwhelming. He last competed at the European clay-court swing, with his best being a third-round finish at the 2025 French Open. Beyond that, the Frenchman fell in the first round in both Madrid and Rome, and exited in the second round in Geneva.

Taylor Fritz vs Quentin Halys Head-to-Head

Fritz leads Halys 1-0 in their head-to-head. Their first and only meeting came in the second round of the Geneva Open earlier this year, where the top seed secured a 6-4, 7-6(5) win.

Taylor Fritz vs Quentin Halys Prediction

Fritz has enjoyed an impressive run on grass in recent times. The American boasts a 50–30 career record on the surface and dropped only two matches last year. He reached the quarterfinals of the Queen’s Club Championships, and followed it up by winning the Lexus Eastbourne Open, and finished as a quarterfinalist at Wimbledon.

Whereas Halys’s only appearance on grass last year came at the Wimbledon Championships, where he was eliminated in the third round. Moreover, the Frenchman’s relatively limited experience on grass gives Fritz a slight advantage heading into the contest.

Pick: Fritz to win
