Taylor Fritz recently shared a glimpse into how he is spending his time away from the ATP Tour amid his injury layoff. With the update arriving just a couple of weeks after his high-profile split from social media influencer Morgan Riddle, Sam Querrey shared a humorous reaction to the world No. 7’s unexpected outing.
Sam Querrey Jokes About Single Taylor Fritz Embracing His ‘Real’ Self
While his peers like Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev, Ben Shelton, and Tommy Paul have been battling it out at the 2026 Italian Open, Fritz pulled out of the ATP Masters 1000 event as he continues to deal with tendonitis in his right knee that has disrupted his clay-court season. Despite the injury, the American has been making the most of his time off by enjoying activities such as attending the Renaissance Fair in Irwindale, California.
“The nerd in me had to hit the Renaissance Faire,” he posted on his Instagram story.

The American made no secret about his delight over the outing, happily posing for photos with friends and capturing the lively scenes at the event.
“This makes me so happy,” he wrote.

Fritz’s unexpected outing later became a topic of discussion on the recent episode of the “Nothing Major” podcast, with Sam Querrey jokingly suggesting that the 28-year-old is now free to fully embrace the things he enjoys after splitting with Morgan Riddle, whom he dated for nearly six years.
“Taylor Fritz is not in Rome. He’s been hanging out at the Renaissance Fair. Have you guys seen that?” John Isner asked.
“Now that Fritz is single, he can do all these things he wants to do, like hit the Renaissance fair,” Querrey responded.
Steve Johnson chimed in with an amusing remark, while Querrey stated that Fritz’s “real” personality is now on display.
“He was a closet Renaissance fan. Now that he’s got the ability to go, he can go on a Saturday afternoon,” Johnson quipped.
“You can see the real Taylor Fritz,” Querrey said.
Like Fritz, Riddle has also shared peeks of her post-split life after relocating to New York, including revealing her breakup philosophy with a new luxury purchase.
Why Jessica Pegula Was Thinking About Taylor Fritz at the Italian Open
Although Fritz is not physically present at the Italian Open, his influence has still been felt in Rome. After claiming a flawless 6-0, 6-0 victory over Rebeka Masarova in the third round, Jessica Pegula revealed that she could not stop thinking about the 28-year-old’s constant refrain of a ‘double bagel’ win being a “kiss of death” during the match.
“I was like, I lost the first set 6-0, I just always have in my head Taylor Fritz saying that it’s the kiss of death. I was just informed that it’s only the kiss of death on the men’s tour and it doesn’t count if it’s three-out-of-five. Three-out-of-five, it’s good. I didn’t know that was a thing. But I was thinking about that literally because I’ve heard him say that so many times,” Pegula said.

Amid lingering doubts about his participation in the French Open, Fritz has entered his name for the Geneva Open, set to take place one week before the clay-court major. The ATP 250 event will serve as the world No. 7’s only preparatory event on clay in the lead-up to Roland Garros.
