Taylor Fritz, the current World No. 6, has recently shared his thoughts as he has arrived in Perth for the 2026 United Cup tournament, where he will defend Team USA’s title alongside WTA star and World No. 3 Coco Gauff, Varvara Lepchenko, Nicole Melichar-Martinez, Mackenzie McDonald, and Christian Harrison.
The fourth edition of the international hard-court team tennis tournament will take place from January 2 to 11, across Perth and Sydney, at the RAC Arena and the Ken Rosewall Arena.
Taylor Fritz Returns to Perth To Defend Team USA’s Title at the 2026 United Cup
The 2026 season is all set to welcome the ATP and WTA elites to Australia for the United Cup tournament. The competition will see 18 countries, including two-time champion Team USA, Germany, Belgium, Poland, Spain, China, Greece, Czechia, France, Argentina, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Norway, Japan, Canada, Italy, Australia, and Great Britain, battling for the title.
Fritz has joined Team USA after wrapping up an impressive season during which he won two titles, the Lexus Eastbourne Open and the Boss Open. In his last season, the American star achieved a historic feat, reaching the quarterfinals of all nine Masters 1000 events, and ended his season with 53 wins and 23 losses.
Through his recent Instagram post, the Rancho Santa Fe, California, native recently expressed his thoughts, featuring a selfie where he looked exhausted after a long 19-hour flight, “After 19 hours of flying we have made it ✈️.”
Along with Fritz, other top ATP players competing include Alexander Zverev and Felix Auger-Aliassime. Due to his recovery from an arm injury, Jack Draper opted out of the tournament and also from the Australian Open.
Others include Stefanos Tsitsipas, Alex de Minaur, and, from the WTA side, Iga Świątek, Naomi Osaka, Eva Lys, Jasmine Paolini, Maria Sakkari, Emma Raducanu, and Belinda Bencic, who will also be competing.

Stephen Farrow, the director of the United Cup, highlighted how the significant stage is set for the highly anticipated tournament:
“The United Cup holds a unique position in global tennis, with the world’s best men and women committed to play in mixed teams and showcase equality in the sport. The entry list for the United Cup this summer is world class. We’re excited to welcome five of the world’s top 10 men and four of the world’s top 10 women in 2026.” (via ATP Tour)
Upon arriving in Perth, Fritz received a warm welcome, as he was given a kangaroo plush toy. Similarly, Gauff, Osaka, and others received their plush toys upon arrival, creating heartfelt moments with the players.
