Stefanos Tsitsipas has passed his first test at the Madrid Open, advancing to the round of 64 in singles. He has recently shared his thoughts on his girlfriend, Kristen Thoms, with whom he has been in a relationship since late 2025, highlighting the importance of her support, among other things.
Stefanos Tsitsipas Reflects Admiration for His Girlfriend During His Madrid Open Campaign
Tsitsipas, the former No. 3, defeated the World No. 90 American Patrick Kypson with a final score of 3-6, 7-6(6), 7-6(4) in the first round, marking their first career clash. He has advanced to the round of 64 at the Caja Mágica, where he faces Russian-born Kazakhstani star Alexander Bublik.
During his campaign in Madrid, he is receiving the full support of his girlfriend, whom he has been dating since last year, after ending his relationship with Spanish star Paula Badosa. The Greek is steadily growing in his relationship with Thoms, who played tennis at the collegiate level at Florida Atlantic University.
She is now pursuing a career as a model and a social media influencer, while also having a passion for visual arts. Thoms is also often seen supporting Tsitsipas during his tournaments, and her presence is also deeply appreciated by the ATP star.
As he mentioned, his girlfriend’s presence often provides him emotional comfort during stressful on-court situations, subsequently calming and motivating him. Furthermore, he expressed that, as a tennis player herself, Thoms understands the mental and physical demands of the sport.
He heartwarmingly mentioned, “She’s super cute. I love seeing her face in difficult moments. She’s the person I’m always seeking out for in difficult match moments. She’s been there for me for a very long time. I feel like she knows about tennis, and that’s what makes her special to be on the court. She’s played tennis herself, knows the psychology of tennis.”

Tsitsipas continued expressing his admiration for her support and how the couple aims to spend as much time together as they can, sharing, “She’s been a great support so far in my tennis journey, in my matches. I have had her last week too. We’re trying to obviously be with each other as much as we can because this tour is very demanding and it requires a lot of travel. So I really want to spend as much time as possible building memories on court and off court.”

Coming on to his court action, Tsitsipas and Darderi, in doubles, will be clashing against Alexander Zverev and Marcelo Melo in the round of 32. As per PFSN’s interactive Madrid Open predictor, Tsitsipas holds a 48% chance of winning his match against eight-seeded Bublik, who has a 52% chance.
