Stefanos Tsitsipas is having a sort of a resurgence at the Madrid Open after a string of poor results. The Greek player, who’s dropped to No. 80 in the world at the moment, is looking for a deep run that will help him climb the ranking chart and inch closer to where he belongs.
During his run in the Spanish capital, Tsitsipas is enjoying support from his family, including his parents and his girlfriend Kristen.

Tsitsipas, unseeded at the Madrid Open, began his campaign with a tight 3-6, 7-6(6), 7-6(4) comeback win against Patrick Kypson in the first round. With renewed confidence, he overcame eighth seed Alexander Bublik, 6-2, 7-5, in the next round.
Then came his easiest win so far, against home hope Daniel Merida Aguilar, where Tsitsipas prevailed with a 6-4, 6-2 score. During the match, he enjoyed support from his girlfriend Kristen Thoms, who animatedly cheered him on from the stands. Thoms, a former collegiate tennis player at Florida Atlantic University, has been spotted in the player’s box ever since he made their relationship official in late 2025.
Alongside his partner, his mother Julia was also present in his box. Meanwhile, his father Apostolos, who coaches him, too, has been a noticeable part of the player’s box.

During the tournament, Stefanos Tsitsipas opened up about having his girlfriend around.
“She’s super cute. I love seeing her face in difficult moments. She’s the person I’m always seeking out for in difficult match moments,” he said. “She’s been there for me for a very long time. I feel like she knows about tennis, and that’s what makes her special to be on the court. She’s played tennis herself, knows the psychology of tennis.”

“She’s been a great support so far in my tennis journey, in my matches. I have had her last week too. We’re trying to obviously be with each other as much as we can because this tour is very demanding and it requires a lot of travel. So I really want to spend as much time as possible building memories on court and off court,” the 27-year-old added.
