Adidas’ retro-inspired Wimbledon kits have taken social media by storm after tennis stars Stefanos Tsitsipas, Elina Svitolina, and Karolina Muchová were spotted sporting the brand’s new ‘London Originals Collection.’
With its bold nod to the 1970s and the return of the iconic trefoil logo, the collection quickly gained traction online for its nostalgic flair and raised eyebrows over Wimbledon’s famously strict all-white dress code.

The launch is just ahead of the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, beginning on Jun. 30. Celebrating the 50+ year legacy of the trefoil logo worn by tennis legend Stan Smith during his 1972 Wimbledon win, the 36-piece line draws heavy inspiration from the club’s traditional tenniswear.
The pieces, which include polos, sleeveless tank tops, dresses, romper-style women’s bodysuits, and accessories, were designed to stay within Wimbledon’s all-white tradition while weaving in a bold, modern flair. What’s different this time is the subtle splash of color, specifically green stitching, argyle designs, and logos, that some fans fear may violate Wimbledon’s notoriously rigid color regulations.
Tsitsipas, Svitolina, and Muchova were among several Adidas-sponsored athletes who modeled the collection in a promotional video posted to Instagram, sparking immediate buzz.

Fans Split Over Whether Kits Will Pass Wimbledon’s Strict Dress Code
A second wave of responses questioned whether players would actually be allowed to wear the collection on court. “They won’t be allowed to wear these. Too much color for Wimbledon,” one fan cautioned, referencing past instances when even shoe sole colors led to penalties.
Another chimed in, “Don’t tell me #Wimbledon2025 will allow sleeveless formal match attire for men!”
The apprehension centers around Wimbledon’s “almost entirely white” mandate, which enforces strict limits on visible color, including logos, trims, and accessories, all of which must not exceed one centimeter in width. That level of restriction has historically led to disqualifications or mid-match wardrobe changes.
“Apparently these are the Adidas Originals collection,” one user wrote, “but until today’s promo video, I wasn’t sure the green stripe would be allowed for Wimbledon. Do you think players will be in those outfits?”
