Serena Williams’ Husband Alexis Ohanian Backs Paternity Leave Culture
Renowned media company Axios recently shared a census that depicted a massive rise in people demanding paid paternal leave. According to the reports, states including Washington and Colorado saw more than or equal to 50% rise in numbers. Other states also recorded commendable hikes, with Rhode Island standing at 45%, California and Connecticut at 44 and New York at 41%.
Along with sharing the report, the renowned tech entrepreneur also expressed excitement over witnessing the massive hike in numbers.
“Progress! We gotta keep getting people access to it & then keep changing the culture to encourage dads taking it,” Ohanian wrote on X.

Williams and Ohanian welcomed their first daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., on Sept. 1, 2017, in West Palm Beach, Florida. They later welcomed their second daughter, Adira River Ohanian, on Aug. 22, 2023.
Despite being busy with several businesses and venture firms, including Seven Seven Six and others, Ohanian still reserves weekends just for his girls. He regularly takes off on Sundays to spend time with Olympia and Adira, often sharing glimpses of activities such as cooking, playing golf, gardening, and others.
When Alexis Ohanian Mentioned How Paternity Leave Blessed Him With a Good Time for His Family
Ohanian has a fair reason to advocate for the promotion of paternity leave. Back in 2019, the Reddit co-founder opened up about the notable time he got to spend with his family because of the paternity leave. In an interview with the New York Times, the 42-year-old said:
“Spending a big chunk of time with Olympia when she was a newborn gave me confidence that I could figure this whole parenting thing out,” he said. “As an only child with no cousins, I didn’t grow up around babies; in fact, I had never held one until my daughter was born. At first, holding her terrified me. I am a giant and she’s so tiny … What if I break her? I didn’t, which was encouraging.”
Olympia is eight years old, and Adira is two. Ohanian and Williams’ updates have consistently showcased the affection of both daughters.
