Wimbledon 2025 kicks off on Jun. 30, 2025, but a wave of high-profile withdrawals has already hit the prestigious tournament. Several top players have pulled out of the Grand Slam due to injuries, who were expected to make strong runs at the All England Club.
These withdrawals have significantly affected the men’s draw. Many top players from the men’s singles have already pulled out, creating new opportunities for other players to leave their mark on the grass courts.
Men’s Players Withdrawal from Wimbledon 2025
Casper Ruud, who would have been seeded 15th, announced his withdrawal due to a knee injury, shocking the tennis world. The Norwegian star has been struggling with this problem and hasn’t played since his second-round loss at Roland Garros.
Sebastian Korda withdrew due to a stress fracture in his right shin. The 24-year-old American star announced his injury during the clay season on Instagram. This adds another setback for Korda as the star will be out of Wimbledon 2025, who has faced multiple injury problems over the past year.

Another shock came as Arthur Fils, the promising Frenchman who would have been seeded 16th, pulled out of the tournament. He suffered a stress fracture in his back at the French Open against Jaume Munar. The 21-year-old star hasn’t played since Paris.
The Australian star, Nick Kyrgios, confirmed he would miss the entire grass season due to an injury. The 2022 Wimbledon runner-up played just four matches this year so far and withdrew from the French Open due to a knee problem.
Kei Nishikori withdrew from Wimbledon 2025 after an injury-plagued season. The Japanese has been dealing with back problems and missed several tournaments this year. Zhang Zhizhen withdrew due to a shoulder injury and hasn’t competed since Indian Wells in March.
Emil Ruusuvuori withdrew for medical reasons and hasn’t competed since a Challenger Tour event in Zagreb. He returned in February after being out for mental health reasons.
Women’s Draw Updates Ahead of Wimbledon 2025
Emma Raducanu remains in the draw and will be the highest-ranked British woman competing. She sits at No. 38 in the rankings, just missing out on a seeding as the cut-off was at No. 32. She enters unseeded, making her one of the strongest non-seeded players in Wimbledon 2025. With home support behind her, she will be looking to improve on her 2021 and 2024 fourth-round runs.
Paula Badosa retired from her match in Berlin against Wang Xinyu due to a back injury. The Spaniard posted on social media saying, “I’m tired of all this” after another withdrawal. However, she has not yet officially pulled out of Wimbledon.

In her Instagram post, Garcia wrote: “No Wimbledon for me this year. I had to push my body to the limit, infiltrations and all, to play one last Roland Garros at home.”
Additionally, she wrote: “It’s time to go back to square one: let my body truly heal and do a good training block.”
