On Day 8, the 2025 Wimbledon Championships witnessed a royal welcome of sorts as tennis legend Roger Federer made his much-anticipated return to the All England Club.
The eight-time Wimbledon champion drew plenty of attention as he arrived in style with his wife Mirka, heading straight to the Royal Box just minutes before play began on Centre Court.

On Monday afternoon, the 43-year-old turned up at the grounds in a dark navy suit paired with black sunglasses. Mirka Federer complemented his look in an elegant white ensemble that stayed true to Wimbledon’s traditional all-white theme. Soon after, they were seen settling into the Royal Box as Novak Djokovic prepared to face Alex de Minaur in a fourth-round clash.
The moment Federer and his wife arrived at the All England Club was widely shared across platforms like X shortly before Centre Court action began on July 7. In another video, the pair was seen walking into the venue.

Federer’s presence at SW19 is always a moment to cherish. Since his retirement in 2022, he has made a point of attending Wimbledon as a guest, often seated in the Royal Box to take in the action.
His connection to the tournament runs deep, as Wimbledon is where his legendary career truly began to blossom in 2003 when he won his first Grand Slam. From 2003 to 2007, he won five straight titles and claimed a record eight wins at the grass-court Major (2003-2007, 2009, 2012, 2017).
In 2017, at age 35, Federer won his eighth title without dropping a set, defeating Marin Čilić in the final. That year, he also hit his 10,000th ace and broke Jimmy Connors’ record for most Wimbledon match wins. With a 105-14 record, Federer is the all-time leader in Wimbledon wins. His final appearance came in 2021, when he lost in the quarterfinals to Hubert Hurkacz.
Federer Hints at Tennis Comeback
In a conversation with TNT Sports, Federer said he’s eager to play exhibition matches, admitting he’s grown tired of golf and wants to entertain fans with his tennis again.
“Honestly I’d love to play some more tennis again. Enough with the golf already for a moment now, I’ve played so much. But no seriously, I’d love to start playing like two-three times a week again and hopefully, get myself back on an exhibition court. Maybe fill up a few nice stadiums around the world,” Federer said.
He noted that his body and mind needed a break after his long career, but he now plans to resume training and hopes an exhibition tour will come together.
