Rafael Nadal Attends Foundation’s Fourth Awards Ceremony With Wife Mery at His Side

The Rafa Nadal Foundation was established in 2008 by the 22-time Grand Slam singles champion and his mother, Ana María Parera. The foundation’s goal is to promote social development and education through sports for vulnerable children. It has supported children in Palma, Valencia, Madrid, and India, among other locations.

This year, the fourth Rafa Nadal Foundation Awards in Spain received applications from 329 social projects, and five social organizations were awarded.

“Today we celebrated the 4th Rafa Nadal Foundation Awards, a moment that means a lot to me. Very proud to reach this fourth edition and to continue promoting these awards together with @Telefónica on our island. Congratulations to the five awarded social organizations: @fundaciontambien, @unoentrecienmil, @dime_paliativos, @fundacionecomar and @beyondsuncare,” Nadal captioned his Instagram post.

Nadal also emphasized the importance of joining forces, building networks, and working together to create more opportunities for those in need.

Mery, who initially worked as a project manager for the foundation, became the CEO and Director General in 2019 and attended the event with Nadal; both of them were dressed in stunning outfits.

On the tennis side of things, Nadal, who turned professional in 2001, has won 92 ATP Tour singles titles, including 22 Grand Slam singles titles: 14 at the French Open, four at the US Open, and two each at the Australian Open and Wimbledon.

The Spaniard has been ranked No. 1 in the ATP world rankings and has won two Olympic gold medals for Spain: one in singles at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and one in doubles alongside fellow Spaniard Marc López at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, in addition to numerous other accolades.

Nadal secured his last ATP Tour singles title at the 2022 French Open by defeating Casper Ruud in the final. He retired from professional tennis in November 2024 after representing Spain in the Davis Cup Finals.
