Paula Badosa recently shared a heartwarming message after concluding her campaign at the Mutua Madrid Open, garnering admiration from her mother, Emma Raducanu, and other WTA stars. Her title run at the Caja Mágica came to a bitter end after she suffered a round of 128 defeat from former world No. 54, Austrian talent Julia Grabher, in a three-set battle.

Paula Badosa Ends Her Run at the Madrid Open, Garnering Support From Her Mother and WTA Stars

The Spanish star, Badosa, entered the WTA 1000 tournament with a wildcard entry and lost the round of 128 to Grabher with a concluding score of 7-6(3), 4-6, 6-0, in two hours and 32 minutes. The duo last competed in 2016 at Italy’s Internazionali Femminili di Brescia, where Badosa defeated the Austrian in the round of 32.

After concluding her run at the Madrid Open, Badosa shared glimpses of her enjoying her time and a moment of peace on the rooftop, overlooking a city skyline.

In the caption of her Instagram post, she mentioned highlighting her gratitude, “Madrid, it’s always a pleasure 🇪🇸 Thank you @umusichotelmadrid for making me feel at home 🤍 (Madrid, es siempre un placer 🇪🇸 Gracias @umusichotelmadrid por hacerme sentir como en casa 🤍).”

Her post garnered reactions from her mother, Mireia Gibert, who shared her thoughts, adding “❤️”, and the British star, Emma Raducanu, mentioned, “😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.”

Apart from them, German talent Eva Lys also shared her reaction, adding a string of heart emoticons, “❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️,” and the former French player, Caroline Garcia, mentioned, “🫶🏻 (heart hand emoticon).”

 

The New York native, who has been suffering from injury challenges since her last season, recently reflected on her roadblocks during her recent appearance on ‘Tennis Insider Club‘ hosted by Garcia and her husband, Borja Duran.

Badosa mentioned highlighting the weight of her challenges and being optimistic enough to return, she added, “I went through a lot this last year and a half. But I’m okay. I’m getting there. Fighting through a lot of things, but I’m here. For now.”

Before competing at the Madrid Open, Badosa was seen in action at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, where she lost the round of 32 to Lys in a three-set clash. At the Linz Open, the Spanish talent was defeated in the round of 32 by Austrian talent, Lilli Tagger.

At the Charleston Open, Badosa advanced to the round of 16, where she lost to Anna Kalinskaya in straight sets. Apart from these early exits, Badosa showcased her remarkable skills at the WTA 125 in Austin, US, powering her way into the semifinal round.
