Coco Gauff, Jannik Sinner, and Iga Świątek To Join a Star-Studded $1 Million Australian Open Event
Grassroots tennis takes center stage this week with the launch of the 1 Point Slam State Championships across Australia. Champions from each state and territory will book their spot in the 1 Point Slam main draw, with travel to Melbourne taken care of, two nights of accommodation included, and the chance to be part of an exclusive, behind-the-scenes player experience.
The main event, scheduled for January 14 inside Rod Laver Arena, will bring together 48 competitors in a unique blend of professional and amateur players. True to its name, each match is decided by a single point, with the winner walking away with a whopping AUS$1 million.
But beyond that prize money, the renowned Korean automobile brand, Kia, will be awarding a brand-new Matcha Green Kia EV3 GT-Line to the final amateur in the 1 Point Slam main draw.
As previously confirmed, Alcaraz and Kyrgios headline a glittering lineup that also features Lorenzo Musetti, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Alexander Zverev, and Alex De Minaur. The field has grown even stronger following a recent update, with Sinner, Gauff, and Świątek now added to the mix.
Australian Open Tournament Director Craig Tiley also weighed in on the development, expressing his delight over the vision behind the event. Tiley emphasized that the exhibition aims to bring people together through tennis in a fun and engaging way.
“Having stars like Iga Swiatek, Jannik Sinner and Coco Gauff committed to play, alongside everyday Australians qualifying through State Championships, captures exactly what this event is about, bringing people together through tennis in an exciting and inclusive way,” they said.
Sinner arrives at the event following an exceptional 2025 season, highlighted by six tour titles, including two Grand Slams, the Wimbledon Championships, and the Australian Open. Iga Świątek, meanwhile, capped off a remarkable year by claiming her sixth Grand Slam at Wimbledon, alongside a WTA 1000 triumph in Cincinnati.
Gauff also enjoyed a standout campaign, lifting her second Grand Slam trophy at the 2025 French Open and adding the WTA 1000 title in Wuhan to her achievements.
