On the tennis side of things, both Sabalenka and Djokovic’s last tournament on the Tour was the 2026 Australian Open, where they reached the finals and finished as runners-up to Elena Rybakina and Carlos Alcaraz, respectively.
At the 2026 BNP Paribas Open, Sabalenka is the top seed and will begin her campaign in the second round after receiving a bye in the first round. She is set to face qualifier Himeno Sakatsume in her opening match. This will be their first meeting on the WTA Tour.
The winner of the second round match between Sabalenka and Sakatsume at Tennis Paradise will advance to face either the 29th seed Maya Joint or Jaqueline Cristian in the third round.
On the men’s side of the draw, Djokovic is seeded third at the 2026 Indian Wells Masters and will begin his campaign in the second round following a first-round bye. He will face the winner of the first-round match between Kamil Majchrzak and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in his opening match. The Serb has not played against either player previously on the ATP Tour.
The winner of this second-round match between Djokovic and either Majchrzak or Perricard at the ATP Masters 1000 hard court tournament will advance to face either 31st seed Corentin Moutet, Hubert Hurkacz, or Aleksandar Kovacevic in the third round of the tournament.
