While many of their fellow ATP stars have descended on Montréal, Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner are continuing to make the most of their break after withdrawing from the Canadian Open. Djokovic is enjoying quality time with his family during their trip to Montenegro, while Sinner is embracing the comforts of home in Monaco.
What Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner Are Doing After Canadian Open Withdrawals
Djokovic and Sinner recently locked horns in a blockbuster semifinal clash at the Wimbledon Championships. The Italian claimed a 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 victory in the high-profile showdown and went on to beat Alexander Zverev in the final.
Although Sinner was in contention to make history by winning all nine ATP Masters 1000 events in a single season, he opted to withdraw from the Canadian Open. He sacrificed the milestone in order to prioritize his health and manage his workload.
“After carefully considering all the factors together with my team, we have made the difficult decision to withdraw from Montreal,” Sinner explained in a statement. “It is never easy to miss such an important event, but we believe this is the right decision to prioritise my health. I’m disappointed not to be there, but I look forward to returning to Montreal in the future.”
Djokovic, who hasn’t competed at the Canadian Open since 2018, chose to skip the event once again, having been open about reducing his schedule to spend more time with his wife, Jelena, and their children, Stefan and Tara.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion has been doing just that, exploring Montenegro with his loved ones. Djokovic was recently spotted at the helm of a boat while enjoying a day on the Adriatic Sea with his family.

Sinner, meanwhile, was seen taking his luxury Ferrari 812 Competizione for a drive in Monaco.

Although the world No. 1 pulled out of the Canadian Open, he has begun gearing up for the North American hardcourt swing by hitting the practice courts in Monaco.
Both Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner will be back in action at the Cincinnati Open, scheduled to begin on August 13. They will be joined by Carlos Alcaraz, who is set to make his long-awaited comeback to the tour at the ATP Masters 1000 event after being sidelined since April due to a wrist injury.
