The off-season has officially begun, and players are making the most of their downtime. Following a grueling schedule filled with Grand Slams and WTA 1000 events, four-time Major champion Naomi Osaka and American star Taylor Townsend have begun to unwind. The duo were recently spotted enjoying themselves in the middle of the ocean, and the clip capturing the moment was worth watching.
Naomi Osaka Enjoys Getting Trapped With Taylor Townsend in the Midst of an Ocean
Osaka has been away from competition since her last tour-level appearance at the Japan Open, where she reached the quarterfinals before retiring. The 2025 season has been a solid one for the Japanese star, even though a tour-level title eluded her.
Her standout moments included capturing her first trophy of any kind in nearly four years in Saint-Malo, finishing runner-up in Auckland and at the WTA 1000 event in Montreal, and ultimately a phenomenal semifinal run at the US Open.
The former World No. 1 concluded her season with an impressive 35–15 win-loss record, and at No. 16th spot in the WTA rankings.
Townsend, who has established herself as a force in doubles, capped off an outstanding season by finishing as the World No. 2, and that was built on her consistency. The American wrapped up her campaign with an impressive 44–10 record, including victories at the Australian Open, the Dubai Duty Free Championships, the Mubadala Citi DC Open, and the Japan Open.
Her most recent outing came at the WTA Finals doubles event, where she partnered with Katerina Siniakova. The pair advanced to the semifinals before bowing out to Elise Mertens and Veronika Kudermetova.
With the season having come to an end, both Osaka and Townsend are making the most of their time off. Recently, the two appeared in a video shared by Townsend on Instagram. The clip opens with Osaka showcasing her stunning bejeweled swimsuit while vibing to 4 Non Blondes’ What’s Up. The camera then shifts to Townsend, who is wearing a sleek black monokini and grooving to Nicki Minaj’s “Beez in the Trap.”

There have been numerous instances highlighting Osaka and Townsend’s camaraderie on tour. Townsend enjoyed an impressive campaign alongside Katerina Siniakova at Flushing Meadows this year, coming within one step of another Grand Slam doubles title.
However, the pair fell 4-6, 4-6 to third seeds Erin Routliffe and Gabriela Dabrowski, narrowly missing out on the milestone. Osaka, though, was quick to take notice of her friend’s achievement, playfully calling Townsend’s ever-growing trophy collection “sickening.”
