Naomi Osaka Reflects on Her Emotional Growth Through Her Messages

Osaka returned to action in 2026, making her debut with Team Japan at the fourth edition of the United Cup, and then entered the Australian Open, where she clinched two women’s singles titles in 2019 and 2021 as the 16th seed. In her campaign at Melbourne Park, she defeated Antonia Ružić in her first round and then Sorana Cîrstea in the second.

However, the elite player couldn’t play her third-round match against world No. 125 due to an injury, and because of the same injury, she skipped the Qatar Open and didn’t compete in any other Middle East Swing tournaments. She had earlier competed in the Qatar Open in 2018 and 2024, reaching the quarterfinal round.

She also competed in the Dubai Tennis Championships from 2017 to 2019, and in 2018 reached the quarterfinals. In 2024, she also competed in the Abu Dhabi Open. On Instagram Threads, Osaka recently shared insights into her emotional and mental health, adding, “One day I hope to know peace.”

The world No. 16 had earlier revealed that her lingering injury was the reason she is facing challenges in her current season, “It’s an injury I’ve had a couple of times before, and I thought I could push through it. I played my last match with some pain, and I thought maybe if I gave myself a break before my match today, I would be able to handle it. But I warmed up, and it got a lot worse.”

She continued highlighting that her physical body has changed after becoming a mother, “I definitely have to do more tests, and obviously I think coming back from pregnancy, my body changed quite a lot. So this is something I have to be really cautious of.”

However, despite her limited Australian Open run, Osaka won hearts with her entrance outfit, which strikingly showcased her fashionistic flair, as she had designed it herself, along with Nike and UK-based designer Robert Wun.
