Which NBA superstar bought Maria Sharapova’s Manhattan Beach house?

According to the Orange County Register, the house was sold to Luka Dončić, a player for the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA. In addition to competing in the league, Dončić also represents the Slovenian national team.
Before joining the Lakers, Dončić played for Real Madrid Baloncesto from 2015 to 2018 and for the Dallas Mavericks from 2018 to 2025. He recently signed a three-year contract extension worth $165 million with the Lakers and is projected to have NBA career earnings of more than $300 million by the end of that deal.
The three-story house features five bedrooms, a two-lane bowling alley, and a swimming pool.

On the tennis side, Sharapova won five Grand Slam singles titles during her career: two at the French Open and one each at the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and the U.S. Open. She was ranked No. 1 in the WTA rankings and also claimed a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics. Sharapova retired from professional tennis in February 2020..

Maria Sharapova Recently Inducted Into International Tennis Hall of Fame

Sharapova and the Bryan brothers, Mike and Bob, were recently inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2025. In her induction speech, Sharapova delivered a heartfelt tribute to her father, Yuri Sharapova, who worked with her, coached her, and served as her manager for nearly 20 years.

During her speech, Sharapova expressed gratitude to her father for his guidance, saying she was a “lucky girl” to have him by her side throughout her tennis journey, especially when others doubted her potential.

“Dad, we really did this together, didn’t we? I was a little nervous when my dad told me he was going to choose a suit for today without any supervision, but you do. You look good. I approve. It’s always a scary thought as a daughter. I am such a lucky girl to have navigated this journey under your wings when no one believed we could,” Sharapova said.

The former world No. 1 acknowledged that although Yuri was tough on her about tennis, he never forgot to show the love of a father.

“And you always did. You had conviction in your decisions, and you never looked back. You were tough. You were tough, and you repeatedly expected me to raise my standards. But along the way, you never forgot your most important role, to be my father. It is a gift I am deeply grateful for. Thank you,” she added.

At her Hall of Fame ceremony, Sharapova was surprised by one of her biggest rivals on the court, Serena Williams, who introduced and honored her on the special occasion.
