He won a couple of matches against the likes of Martin Landaluce and Corentin Moutet in Barcelona before losing to Arthur Fils in the quarterfinals.
Hurkacz was part of the title-winning Polish team at the United Cup, where he beat Alexander Zverev, Tallon Griekspoor, Taylor Fritz, and Stan Wawrinka. However, after that, the Pole had five successive opening-round exits, including at Indian Wells and Miami, losing to the likes of Aleksandar Kovacevic and Ethan Quinn. He started his clay-court campaign in Monte-Carlo, where he reached the third round with wins over Luciano Darderi and Fabian Marozsan, before losing to Vacherot in the third round.
