Canadian tennis star Leylah Fernandez has posted a reel listing “propaganda” that she will not fall for. The 2021 US Open finalist has wrapped up a fairly successful grass season and is gearing up to launch her campaign at Wimbledon.
So far, Fernandez has found the least success at Wimbledon, where she has only been able to make it as far as the second round. However, the Canadian’s game does translate well to grass, as evidenced by her run to the final of the WTA grass court tournament in Eastbourne last year.
What Are the Things That Leylah Fernandez Has Listed as Propaganda?
Fernandez recently posted a reel listing a few things that she considers propaganda that she is “not falling for.” The first “propaganda,” as per the Canadian, is that orange juice is meant to be had during breakfast only. “Orange juice all day everyday,” read the caption to the reel, clarifying Fernandez’s position on the matter.
The second “propaganda,” as listed by Fernandez, is that men’s sports are superior to women’s sports. The belief that “tennis is for tall people” has also been listed as “propaganda” by Fernandez, who stands 5 feet and 6 inches tall.
In her reel, Fernandez has also dismissed the belief that fancy restaurants are better than food chains. The last “propaganda,” as per Fernandez, is that bowling is meant for kids.

The reel also featured a short clip of Fernandez wearing a chic ensemble – a white sleeveless cropped top, and smart dark grey baggy pants.
Fernandez has a massive social media presence and often communicates her feelings with her fans online. On Instagram alone, the Canadian has over 300,000 followers.
How Leylah Fernandez Has Fared on the Tennis Courts This Year
Fernandez has enjoyed a mixed bag of results in 2025. She made it to the third round of the Australian Open before losing to Coco Gauff. After losing in the first round of the French Open, Fernandez entered several grass-court events in preparation for Wimbledon.
Her grass-court season began at the HSBC Championships in London, where she lost in the opening round to Germany’s Tatjana Maria. She fared better in her next grass tournament in Nottingham, reaching the quarterfinals of the WTA 250 event before falling to Dayana Yastremska.
Fernandez last competed at the Bad Homburg Open grass court tournament in Germany. At Bad Homburg, Fernandez avenged her earlier defeat by Maria with a commanding 6-0, 7-6 (1) win in the first round. However, she lost to Jasmine Paolini in two tie-break sets 6-7 (8-10), 6-7 (6-8) in her next match.
The 22-year-old has struggled to recapture the spark that took her to the 2021 US Open final. Speaking to wtatennis.com, she has admitted, “Pre-US Open there was pressure, but not like there is now. It’s been very difficult.”
After her pre-Wimbledon preparations, Hernandez, ranked World No.29, has vowed that she is ready to head to Wimbledon. “Spent the last few weeks feeling out the grass,” the Canadian star captioned a picture of herself at Bad Homburg. “And now I’m ready to head to London for the main event (Wimbledon).”
