Brazilian tennis prodigy João Fonseca, the youngest player at this year’s Laver Cup, is determined to make his mark on court. But before facing Italy’s Flavio Cobolli in singles, the rising star stole the spotlight at the Laver Cup gala with a dazzling appearance alongside his girlfriend, Manu Noronha.
How Did João Fonseca and Girlfriend Draw Attention at the Laver Cup Gala?
Fonseca usually prefers to keep his personal life discreet, with only a few aware of his relationship. He first confirmed it after his Miami Open exit, when he mentioned wanting to spend time with his family, friends, and girlfriend.
Recently, however, his partner made a rare public appearance as the couple graced the Laver Cup gala. The pair embodied grace as Fonseca wore a tailored black suit with a bow tie, while Manu Noronha turned heads in a stunning black dress.

Noronha, 20, is a marketing student at FGV in Rio de Janeiro and also works as a model. She is an emerging social media influencer, admired for her engaging presence online, with her photoshoots for 40graus Models, one of Brazil’s leading agencies, already garnering significant attention.
The youngster frequently displays her glamorous side in her social media posts, where her style and confidence stand out. Her Instagram bio also mentions her affiliation with 40graus Models.
Meanwhile, Fonseca will look to draw strength from his girlfriend’s support as he aims to make an impact at the Laver Cup. The Brazilian is part of Andre Agassi’s Team World, which features a star-studded lineup including Taylor Fritz, Alex De Minaur, Reilly Opelka, Francisco Cerundolo, Jenson Brooksby, and Alex Michelsen.
Fonseca Details His Meeting With Roger Federer at Laver Cup
Fonseca, currently ranked No. 42 in the world, has already claimed one title at the Argentina Open, but his potential suggests many more are on the horizon. The Laver Cup debutant faces a tough challenge in San Francisco, with his upcoming match against Italy’s Cobolli. However, Swiss legend and Laver Cup founder Roger Federer lifted his spirits with a warm greeting during his practice session.
“It was a pleasure, an opportunity, I think, every kid who loves tennis dreams about. When you meet your idol, it’s just amazing. When somebody told me that I was going to meet him, my hands started sweating. I was so nervous. We had a fun talk. He’s a super-nice guy. I’m so thankful for the opportunity.” he said.
The youngster currently holds a 31-22 win-loss record and will aim to improve it at the Laver Cup. He has faced Cobolli once before in Halle, where the Italian prevailed in a tight three-set battle, 5-7, 7-6(3), 7-6(8).
