Following the cardiac arrest, Kim experienced a prolonged period of hospitalisation and rehabilitation, during which she developed significant expressive aphasia and memory issues. Jessica has described her mother as being capable of reading, writing, and understanding communication relatively well, though she experiences difficulty in formulating verbal responses.
