Jessica Pegula, Madison Keys, and Others Discuss Aryna Sabalenka’s Engagement to Georgios Frangulis

Sabalenka announced her engagement on social media by sharing a video of her proposal. In the video, she was dressed casually, indicating that she had no idea the proposal was coming and was completely surprised.

During a recent episode of the “Player’s Box” podcast, Pegula and Keys, along with their co-hosts Desirae Krawczyk and Jennifer Brady, talked about Sabalenka’s engagement. Keys mentioned that Sabalenka was “mad” after the proposal because she wasn’t wearing makeup and felt her outfit was boring.

“She also said she didn’t know because she was mad. She was like, ‘I have no makeup on. My outfit is so boring. Someone should have told me,'” Keys said.

Pegula added that it was “rough” for Sabalenka since the proposal happened in front of a beautiful setup, and she felt that women want to look nice in the pictures and videos of their engagements.

Meanwhile, Krawczyk praised the engagement setup as “beautiful” and called the flowers used in the decorations “crazy.”

“That is kind of rough when there’s such a nice setup, and some girls want to look nice for their pictures and their videos, and it doesn’t quite work out,” Pegula said.

“The Flowers were beautiful. Yeah, it was a really nice set. Flowers were crazy,” Krawczyk added.

The former World No. 3 then asked the American WTA stars for their thoughts on Sabalenka’s engagement ring. Krawczyk described the ring as “massive,” while Keys said it looked “nice.”

Pegula also commented that the ring was “massive” and expressed that she would love to see it up close.

“Her ring… did anyone see it in person?” Pegula asked.

“I did see it. That’s all I can look at. It’s massive,” Krawczyk replied.

“I saw it from afar, and I could see it. So, it looks nice,” Keys said.

“Massive. I would love to get a close-up look,” Pegula added.

On the tennis side of things, Sabalenka and Pegula are currently competing in the 2026 BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells. Sabalenka has reached the quarterfinals and will face Victoria Mboko there. Pegula has advanced to the fourth round, where she will compete against Belinda Bencic.
