Jessica Pegula and Madison Keys have weighed in on their fellow players’ outfits at the 2026 French Open. While Coco Gauff and Elena Rybakina earned praise for their stylish kits, Tommy Paul’s vibrant ensemble failed to impress his compatriots. Pegula also made an honest admission about her own look for the clay-court Major.
Jessica Pegula and Madison Keys Rate French Open Outfits
No. 5 seed Pegula had a disappointing run at the French Open, as Kimberly Birrell pulled off a stunning 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 upset in their first-round clash. During a recent episode of “The Player’s Box” podcast, the 32-year-old lamented that she didn’t get to wear her navy blue Adidas outfit for more matches in Paris.
“I loved mine. I’m so sad I didn’t get to wear it any longer. I can wear it the next few tournaments,” Pegula said.

Pegula went on to express appreciation for Coco Gauff’s custom New Balance outfits, revealing that she was “obsessed” with both the dusty pink and charcoal gray versions. Keys concurred with the world No. 5’s opinion.
“Speaking of Coco, I love both of her outfits. I think they look so pretty. I’m obsessed with the color. Obsessed with the cut. They look so good on her. 10 out of 10,” she said.
“I love Coco’s outfit,” Keys chimed in.

Elena Rybakina’s white Yonex outfit, featuring black and orange accents, also received enthusiastic approval from both Keys and Pegula.
“I also really like Elena’s Yonex dress. It had the accents of orange,” Keys said.
“Yes, I did like that one,” Pegula said.

On the other hand, the men’s outfits failed to impress Keys, who singled out Tommy Paul’s “highlighter pink” New Balance kit in particular.
“I feel like the the men’s outfits are kind of boring,” she said. “The highlighter pink is bright.”
Pegula echoed those sentiments, disclosing that she had told Paul in person that the outfit was too bright.
“Yeah. Not obsessed with that. I saw him in the gym and I was like, ‘Dude, that is pink,'” Pegula said.

Nevertheless, Keys praised New Balance for embracing some daring color schemes, citing Paul’s purple ensemble at the Australian Open earlier this year.
“He said he was a Teletubby in Australia. The full purple and now the highlighter pink. They’re going for some bold colors, which I respect,” Keys said.
Pegula added that the vivid pink worked much better in the outfits worn by McCartney Kessler and Sorana Cîrstea, suggesting that Paul’s outfit would’ve been better received if the black shorts had been replaced with a softer color.
“I think it looks really good on McCartney and Sorana, but I don’t know if I loved it in the t-shirt on the men and then the shoes, but then it’s like black shorts. Yeah, too much contrast. White or a lighter pink or an orange or something, but the black it’s not my favorite,” Pegula said.

None of the aforementioned players remain in contention for the French Open title. No. 19 seed Madison Keys reached the fourth round, where she suffered a 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 loss to No. 25 seed Diana Shnaider. Shnaider had also defeated Kessler 7-6(3), 6-1 in the second round, while No. 18 seed Cîrstea lost 6-0, 6-3 to No. 8 seed Mirra Andreeva in the quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, No. 4 seed Coco Gauff failed to defend her title at the clay-court Major, with Anastasia Potapova securing a 4-6, 7-6(1), 6-4 win in their third-round clash. Yuliia Starodubtseva sealed a 3-6, 6-1, 7-6 [10-4] upset over No. 2 seed Elena Rybakina in the second round.
On the men’s side, No. 24 seed Tommy Paul failed to convert two match points in his thrilling third-round clash with No. 15 seed Casper Ruud, with the Norwegian ultimately claiming a hard-fought 4-6, 6-7(4), 6-4, 7-6(4), 7-5 victory.
