Jannik Sinner Reveals ‘Reason’ Behind Recent Winning Streak as He Gears Up for Carlos Alcaraz Threat at ATP Finals

Jannik Sinner shared the reason behind his winning streak after reaching the final at the ATP Finals, where he will compete against Carlos Alcaraz.

Jannik Sinner recently shared the reason behind his “winning streak” after reaching the final at the 2025 ATP Finals, where he will face Carlos Alcaraz. This year, Sinner is defending his title at the season-ending tournament, having won it in 2024 by defeating Taylor Fritz in the championship match.

Sinner and Alcaraz have faced each other 15 times on the ATP Tour, with Alcaraz winning 10 of those encounters. Their most recent matchup was in the final of the 2025 US Open, which the Spaniard won 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. The two have met five times this year, with Alcaraz winning four of those matches.

Jannik Sinner Opens Up About His ‘Winning Streak’ After Reaching the Final at ATP Finals 2025

Sinner is the top seed at the 2025 ATP Finals, and began his title defense by defeating eighth seed Félix Auger-Aliassime 7-5, 6-1 in the first group stage match. He then triumphed over third seed Alexander Zverev in the second round robin match, winning 6-4, 6-3.

In the final group stage match, Sinner secured a victory against fifth seed Ben Shelton, winning 6-3, 7-6(3). He advanced to the final against Alcaraz by defeating seventh seed Alex de Minaur 7-5, 6-2 in the semifinals.

While speaking to the press after reaching the final at the 2025 ATP Finals, Sinner spoke about the “winning streak” he is on. Before the season-ending tournament, the former World No. 1 won two consecutive tournaments: the 2025 Vienna Open and the Paris Masters, defeating Zverev and Auger-Aliassime, respectively, in the championship matches.

Sinner mentioned that the “winning streak” has a “reason” behind it. After losing at the 2025 French Open, he used that setback as motivation to improve and subsequently won the Wimbledon Championships. He attributed his victories in Vienna and the Paris Masters, as well as reaching the final in Turin, to the motivation he gained after withdrawing from the 2025 Shanghai Masters during his third-round match due to severe leg cramps.

“All things happen for a reason… in Paris I lost it just as I lost it, but maybe that’s why I won Wimbledon. In Shanghai it went that way and maybe that’s why I had this winning streak,” Sinner said.

Meanwhile, Alcaraz, seeded second at the 2025 ATP Finals, began his campaign by defeating de Minaur 7-6(5), 6-2 in the first group stage match. He then overcame sixth seed Fritz 6-7(2), 7-5, 6-3, and ninth seed Lorenzo Musetti 6-4, 6-1 in the second and third group stage matches, respectively.

The World No. 1 secured his place in the final against Sinner by eliminating Auger-Aliassime with a score of 6-2, 6-4 in the semifinals.
