Max Verstappen of Oracle Red Bull Racing secured his eighth victory of the 2025 season, yet the championship narrative belonged entirely to McLaren’s Lando Norris. The British driver finished third, a result sufficient to secure his maiden Formula 1 world championship title.

Norris defeated Verstappen by two points in the final standings, becoming Britain’s eleventh Formula 1 world champion and the sport’s thirty-fifth overall. His achievement marked the first world championship for a McLaren driver since Lewis Hamilton in 2008 and ended Verstappen’s four-year consecutive championship streak.

Oscar Piastri finished second in the race, thirteen points behind Norris in the final standings. Charles Leclerc managed fourth place, whilst George Russell secured fifth for Mercedes. McLaren also won the Constructors’ Championship for the second successive year with 800 points, becoming the first team since 1991 to achieve back-to-back constructors’ titles, securing their tenth constructors’ championship overall.
