All eyes are on Jannik Sinner as he begins his title defense at the US Open, having started strongly with routine straight-set victories over Vit Kopriva (6-1, 6-1, 6-2) and Alexei Popyrin (6-3, 6-2, 6-2). Sinner also became the youngest man in the Open Era to reach four consecutive Grand Slam finals. Meanwhile, Denis Shapovalov enters the showdown with plenty of confidence, clinching the ATP 500 title in Dallas and the championship in Los Cabos without dropping a set.

Shapovalov captured his biggest career title at the Dallas Open, defeating three Top-10 opponents. After a serious knee injury in 2023 and subsequent struggles, the Canadian rebounded dramatically, securing three ATP titles over the past year.
At the US Open, Shapovalov began his campaign with a 6-4, 6-4, 6-0 win over Márton Fucsovics, followed by a topsy-turvy match against Valentin Royer.
Nonetheless, considering Sinner’s campaign so far, the Italian is expected to get past his opponent with relative ease and progress to the fourth round despite trailing their head-to-head.
Prediction: Sinner to win in straight sets
