Neither of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner featured during the second qualifying round of the Davis Cup. However, one of them will feature during the final rounds of the competition, which will take place in Bologna after the ATP Finals in Turin.
Carlos Alcaraz to Feature in Davis Cup Final 8 but Not Jannik Sinner
The squads for the eight qualified teams were released, and Spain will have Carlos Alcaraz joining them after the ATP Finals. The World No. 1 did not feature in the second round following his US Open triumph but he is scheduled to be present in Bologna in an attempt to lead his country to glory at the Davis Cup for the first time since 2019.

The Spanish team is captained by David Ferrer and the other players in the team include Pedro Martinez, Jaume Munar and doubles specialist Marcel Granollers. Last year, Spain reached the quarterfinals of the tournament but lost to Netherlands in what turned out to be Rafael Nadal’s tennis swansong. The nation will play Czech Republic and whoever wins, will take on either Argentina or Germany in the semifinals.
Defending champions Italy, however, will be without Jannik Sinner, who played a crucial role in their triumphs in 2023 and 2024. Last year, the 24-year-old won all of his singles matches without dropping a set as the italians won the Davis Cup by beating Netherlands in the final.

Italy received direct qualification into the Final 8 due to their status as the event’s host and their team comprises of Matteo Berrettini, Lorenzo Musetti, Flavio Cobolli, Simone Bolelli, and Andrea Vavassori. Despite Sinner’s absence, the team looks pretty solid. Italy will face Austria in the Davis Cup quarterfinals, with the winner taking on either France or Belgium in the semifinals.
Alcaraz and Sinner Recently Squared Off at the Six Kings Slam
The two heavyweights of tennis met in another final just days ago, albeit at an exhibition event. They locked horns in the title clash of the Six Kings Slam in Riyadh, with Sinner winning 6-2, 6-4.
After their respective first events in the Asian swing, Alcaraz skipped the Shanghai Masters after his ankle injury in Tokyo while Sinner competed at the Masters 1000 tournament, only to retire from his match against Tallon Griekspoor.
The Italian is next scheduled to compete in Vienna, where he will take on Daniel Altmaier. Alcaraz, on the other hand, will next take part in the Paris Masters.
