The last Grand Slam event of the season might have come to an end, but the action still goes on. While Carlos Alcaraz is teaming up with Alex de Minaur, Casper Ruud, and others to defend Team Europe’s glory at the Laver Cup, Jannik Sinner is also preparing himself to resume play.
After unfortunately missing out on the opportunity to grab the US Open title, the Italian player has stepped onto the soil of Beijing for the upcoming ATP 500 event. Here’s everything to know about the Italian player’s chances in the competition ahead.
Jannik Sinner Arrives in Beijing To Resume Play Following the US Open Heartbreak
Sinner lost the 2025 US Open final to Carlos Alcaraz by 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4, a defeat that also cost him the World No. 1 ranking. Sinner had held the top spot for 65 weeks, having first become No. 1 on June 10, 2024, after an excellent season that included winning the US Open in 2024 and the Australian Open, among other big titles.
With this US Open loss, Alcaraz reclaimed the No. 1 ranking starting next week. While Alcaraz leads Team Europe at the Laver Cup, Sinner made a surprise appearance at the Beijing airport.
Dressed in a Nike track outfit, the Italian player received a warm welcome from his Asian fans. While others shook hands and clicked pictures of him, a fan followed up with the trend by gifting him a blue-colored Labubu.

The ATP 500 competition will see Sinner (world No. 2) play against top-ranked pros, including Alexander Zverev, Alex de Minaur, Lorenzo Musetti, Karen Khachanov, and Daniil Medvedev.
Sinner Steps Foot in Philanthropy With a Major Revelation in Milan
Just 24 years old, yet with a massive prize money window (More than $11M), Sinner received heavy paychecks amid his consistent rise in the world of tennis. Following in the footsteps of the legendary ex-pro Roger Federer, the young Italian recently opened up about his philanthropic agenda.
He launched the Jannik Sinner Foundation at an event in Milan, witnessed by the global media and more than 100 live guests.
Unveiling the thought that motivated him to launch this program, the world No. 2 said:
“I’ve been lucky to pursue my passion through tennis, but I know millions of children never get the chance to follow their dreams because they don’t have access to school. Standing here tonight, I see the project is finally alive, and we are ready to help children realise their dreams.”
The foundation is all set to collaborate with the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) to help children receive facilities, mainly related to education. Sinner is now among the many globally renowned athletes who provide for various social causes.
