World No. 2Â Jannik Sinner was left visibly stunned after Alexander Zverev suffered a frightening fall during his Paris Masters quarterfinal clash with Daniil Medvedev. The incident occurred just as Sinner was speaking to Tennis Channel, abruptly bringing his interview to a halt as he reacted to the German star’s tumble.

Zverev found himself up against one of his toughest rivals in Medvedev, who held a commanding 14–7 advantage in their head-to-head. The Russian imposed early control, racing through the opening set 6–2. But the German mounted a spirited response, taking the second set 6–3 to force a decider.
In a tense tie-break, Medvedev again tightened his grip, but Zverev refused to yield, saving two match points before clinching a dramatic 7–6(5) victory to book his place in the next round.
Zverev appeared to be in significant discomfort, clutching his left leg as he remained on the court. Medvedev rushed over, offering a helping hand to lift him back to his feet. Fortunately, the German recovered quickly and continued the match.
Meanwhile, Sinner, seated for an interview with Prakash Amritraj after his own quarterfinal victory, paused mid-conversation, clearly concerned as he watched the incident unfold and monitored Zverev’s condition from the studio.
“Did he fall? What happened there? I hope it’s nothing serious,” the Italian was heard saying.
In the wake of the incident, Amritraj asked Sinner if he found the courts in Paris sticky, to which he replied:
“It’s a very unique court. It is sticky out there, it feels like it’s a very unique court,” he said.

While Zverev endured a grueling contest against Medvedev, Sinner found himself in a very different kind of showdown with American star Ben Shelton.
What Did Sinner Say About His Quarterfinal Performance Against Ben Shelton?
Sinner was utterly dominant against Shelton in what was his 400th tour-level appearance. The Italian led from the start and took the opening set 6–3. He maintained control in the second set, wrapping up a straight-sets win to extend his head-to-head advantage over the American to 7–1.
Although the scoreline suggested a comprehensive win for the World No. 2, Sinner admitted the contest was demanding, particularly against a power-packed server like Shelton. Still, he noted that his return game clicked effectively.
“It was a very tough match. At times against Ben you don’t have a lot of control because of his incredible serving, but today I felt like I was returning very well. Also from the back of the court, I played very solid and also very aggressive, so I’m very happy about today’s match,” he said after the match.
Interestingly, Sinner would next face Zverev in the semifinals of the Paris Masters. This would be their ninth meeting on the tour, with their head-to-head currently standing at 4-4.
