However, Alexandra Eala brought Świątek’s campaign to an early end, with the Pole’s frustration evident during the blockbuster contest.

No. 3 seed Świątek navigated a tricky challenge during her opening match at SW19, rallying to a 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 win over Taylor Townsend. She then appeared to hit her stride during her dominant 6-1, 6-3 triumph over former Wimbledon finalist Karolína Plíšková.
The six-time Grand Slam champion entered her highly anticipated third-round showdown with Eala with the advantage of experience, given that the Filipina had never reached the second week of a Major before.
However, Eala delivered a remarkable performance in their battle on Centre Court, saving two set points in the opening set and dominating the second to claim a 7-6(9), 6-2 victory, ousting the defending champion from the tournament.
Świątek’s frustration boiled over during the match as she yelled out in anger after losing the first set, seemingly directing her outburst at her coaching team.

The Pole was also seen flinging her racket at her bag after Eala took a 4-2 lead in the first-set tiebreak.

Tennis fans sympathized with Świątek, lamenting the heartbreaking sight and questioning the drastic dip in her level.
“It’s really sad, I never saw reacting like that before,” one fan posted.
“She’s not doing great these days! I wonder why that is???” another fan said.
Several fans also argued that the 25-year-old’s reaction was understandable, since she could see her title defense slipping away.

Following the crushing loss, Świątek spoke to the press about her change in mindset, emphasizing the need to shift her focus away from results and instead concentrate on rediscovering her best tennis.
“Honestly, I don’t care anymore about the results. I’ve been so focused on them that it’s hard to continue like that. I’m really trying to let it go. Come on, like, I don’t have good results. So I’m not going to expect from myself good results because they’re just not happening. I’m not on that level yet. I need to work from the beginning and try to just get my tennis better,” she said.
