Wim Fissette’s Son Revealed to Be a Big Fan of Iga Świątek

Jasmien Clijsner, Wim Fissette’s wife, revealed that she has been supporting the Polish player from home with a series of posts on her Instagram Stories. In one of her posts, she showed her seven-year-old son, Louis, enthusiastically celebrating Świątek’s victory. “Congrats,” Clijsner captioned the post, where she also tagged the Pole.

World No. 11 Alexandrova, the Korea Open champion in 2022, twice came within two points of the title. However, the Pole hung on, edging the second set in a tiebreak. Later, she admitted that Alexandrova was “just playing great” and she just “tried to stay alive.”

Fissette, one of the most celebrated coaches in tennis, replaced Tomasz Wiktorowski in Świątek’s team in October 2024. Initially, the partnership came under intense scrutiny as she failed to win a single trophy heading into Wimbledon. However, the Pole’s victory there allayed the concerns.

Fissette recently shed some light on what marked the turnaround in the relationship.

“It was for me important to take time to get to know her,” he said in a recent interview. “Find the right time to bring in my ideas and how I thought I could help Iga develop her game more and slowly build the trust.”

He stressed, “We worked hard to build that trust every single day.”

Świątek Has Savoured Emotional Korea Open Triumph Linked to Her Father’s Olympic Past

Taking to Instagram, Świątek said her victory at the Korea Open held special meaning, connecting back to her father Tomasz’s Olympic journey in Seoul 37 years ago. Tomasz Świątek represented Poland in rowing at the 1988 Olympics, narrowly missing out on a medal.

“It’s amazing how life works sometimes,” Świątek told the crowd. “When I was a kid, I heard all these stories about the Olympics, Seoul, the challenges and the experience. And here I am, winning a tennis tournament in the same city my dad spoke so much about.”

Świątek said moments like this highlight the value of the path, the process, and the power of storytelling in shaping her career. “I’ll cherish this one forever because of the history and the amazing time I’ve had here in Korea. Thank you for everything.”
