Iga Świątek Say On Her Consistent and Confident Performance in WTA Finals Opener

The winner of 25 singles tour titles made her fifth WTA Finals appearance and defeated the 2025 Australian Open winner within 61 minutes in the opener with the concluding score of 6-1, 6-2. Apart from this, she is also leading the tour with the most matches won with 62, and leads her head-to-head against Keys with 6-2.

Iga Świątek dominated the match against Keys and clinched it with decisive points. Furthermore, she reflected a combination of consistency and precision. While reflecting on her thoughts in her post-match on-court interview, she added, “Honestly, about everything, kind of. She continued expressing that she is content with her performance and will be replicating that in her next game, mentioning:

“So I’m overall happy with the work that I’ve put after the China swing, especially in Warsaw. So that gives me, for sure confidence to go forward and to, yeah, just develop as a player. So I’m happy that I could bring my game today and I’ll be ready to do that next days.”

While explaining her aggressive style of play, a change that she added under the guidance of her coach Wim Fissette, she said, “I think technically for sure the way I played on faster surfaces, the way I handled sometimes faster balls that were an issue for me in previous seasons. This was something that I felt improved totally.”

The Polish sensation won the 2023 WTA Finals title after defeating World No. 5 Jessica Pegula in the finals, which took place in Cancún, Mexico. Last year, the WTA Finals were also hosted in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where American star Coco Gauff lifted the coveted trophy.
