González Shares a Snap With Dimitrov From a Tennis Court

González recently shared a fun moment on her Instagram story that got fans buzzing. The Mexican posted an image of herself on a tennis court with Dimitrov, asking followers, “What do we think of my tennis skills?” In the playful image, González is in the foreground wearing a grey top and olive green pants while holding a tennis racket. Dimitrov stands behind her in a navy t-shirt, white shorts, and a backwards white cap.

This comes just days after Dimitrov made the difficult decision to withdraw from the US Open. The 34-year-old Bulgarian was forced to pull out of the tournament due to a muscle injury he suffered at Wimbledon over a month ago.

Why Did Dimitrov Withdraw From The US Open?

Dimitrov’s withdrawal stems from a devastating injury during his Wimbledon match against Jannik Sinner on July 7. The former world No. 3 was leading two sets to love when disaster struck. He suddenly grabbed his chest after hitting a backhand volley and was forced to retire from the match.

The injury turned out to be a partial tear of his right pectoral muscle, requiring weeks of recovery time. After this forced retirement, González showered Dimitrov with love on her Instagram story, appreciating him for his efforts in the tournament.

The injury also affected Dimitrov’s mixed doubles partnership with world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka at the US Open. Despite multiple offers from other male players wanting to team up with her, Sabalenka declined them all. “Well, there is a few guys who are asking, but no, I don’t think so,” Sabalenka told reporters, explaining her loyalty to Dimitrov even though he couldn’t compete.

This setback marked Dimitrov’s fifth consecutive Grand Slam tournament in which he failed to complete a match due to injury. The unfortunate streak began at Wimbledon 2024 and continued through the US Open 2024, Australian Open 2025, French Open 2025, and Wimbledon 2025.

The US Open withdrawal also ended Dimitrov’s remarkable streak of 58 consecutive Grand Slam appearances, which had been running since the 2011 Australian Open. It marked the first time since 2010 that he missed a major tournament.
