As tennis star Frances Tiafoe gears up for the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, his girlfriend, Ayan Broomfield, experienced a frightening moment on the streets of London. The Canadian actress and influencer revealed through her social media that she was “hit by a car” while riding in an Uber.
Frances Tiafoe Prepares for Wimbledon Amid Early Grass Court Setbacks
The incident occurred as Tiafoe and Broomfield settled into London ahead of the grass-court Major, which begins on Jun. 30. The American is looking to bounce back from a brief grass tune-up at the Queen’s Club Championships, where he suffered an early exit against British veteran Dan Evans.

Following that loss, Tiafoe opted out of the BOSS Open in Stuttgart, likely to rest and fine-tune his game. Broomfield, who often travels with Tiafoe and shares glimpses of their life together, was en route to an appointment when her car was unexpectedly rear-ended.
Broomfield recounted the experience in a series of candid Instagram stories. In the first clip, she could be seen filming a vlog while riding in an Uber when another vehicle suddenly rear-ended the car. “Not to be dramatic or anything,” she wrote, “but I literally just got hit by a car mid vlog and I just keep laughing because not me getting rear-ended in the back of an Uber ON camera like it’s a scripted series.”

Though clearly shaken, Broomfield remained in good spirits and assured fans she was unharmed. The Uber driver promptly contacted law enforcement, and in a humorous follow-up, she posted another update after speaking with a police officer. “Told the officer that I did not need medical attention because I had a hair appointment to make #priorities,” she joked.
Broomfield capped off her series of Instagram stories with a wholesome moment, posting a photo of a friendly dog approaching her as she grabbed a bite to eat. “Went to get some food after and decompress the morning and this pup came up to me it’s like he knew,” she wrote.

Despite the unexpected scare, the couple remains in London as Tiafoe continues his grass-court preparations. He hopes to make a deeper run after his breakthrough quarterfinal appearance at Roland Garros earlier this month.
Tiafoe will be making his eighth appearance at the All England Club, where he recorded his best performance in 2022, when he reached the fourth round.
