Flavio Cobolli’s Girlfriend Matilde Reacts As He Puts Her French Open Final Invite in Doubt After Playful Ban

Flavio Cobolli draws an amusing reaction from girlfriend Matilde Galli after casting doubt on whether she is invited to his French Open final.

Flavio Cobolli is set to face Alexander Zverev in his maiden Grand Slam final at the 2026 French Open. However, it remains uncertain whether Cobolli’s girlfriend, Matilde Galli, will be in the stands to cheer him on. The Italian playfully cast doubt on whether Galli had been invited to the blockbuster clash, given what transpired the last time she attended one of his finals.

Why Matilde Galli Might Miss Flavio Cobolli’s French Open Final

After a disappointing second-round exit at the Monte-Carlo Masters earlier this season, Cobolli bounced back with a stellar run to the final of the BMW Open in Munich. However, the 24-year-old failed to get his hands on the ATP 500 trophy, as Ben Shelton secured a 6-2, 7-5 victory in the final.

During his runner-up speech, Cobolli jokingly blamed his girlfriend, Matilde Galli, for his loss, making her laugh in the stands as he quipped that she might be banned from his next final.

“I called yesterday my girlfriend. I said, ‘Please don’t let me lose,’ but she does so… maybe next final you stay home,” he joked.

When a TennisTV Instagram post recently questioned whether Galli had earned an invitation to the French Open final after the Munich incident, Cobolli refused to give a definitive answer, which prompted an amusing reaction from his girlfriend.

“Maybe,” Cobolli commented.

“@flavio_cobbo 😒😒😒🙃,” Galli replied.

Despite the lighthearted jokes, the 24-year-old has previously expressed his wish for Galli to accompany him to more tournaments, while acknowledging that her education must take priority for now. Galli is currently pursuing a college degree with the goal of becoming a sanitary director for a hospital.

“But of course, I want to see her more than I see her now and to see her more at the tournaments with me. But I think the first goal for her is to finish studying and then we’ll see after college if she can come more than she does now,” he told ATPTour.com.

Cobolli first met Galli at his best friend’s birthday party when he was 18, and her unwavering love and support over the years have made him certain that he wants to spend the rest of his life with her.

“When you can count on someone that loves you a lot, that has been important for us because you have someone on your shoulder,” he said. “Hopefully we can stay together for the rest of our lives.”

While Matilde Galli’s presence at Stade Roland Garros for the French Open final is not guaranteed, Flavio Cobolli can count on her support regardless. The Italian has disclosed that Galli always makes time to watch his matches, even at the cost of her sleep.

Whether cheering from the stands or afar, No. 10 seed Cobolli will be able to lean on Galli’s backing as he faces a tough challenge against No. 2 seed Alexander Zverev, with a maiden Grand Slam title at stake for both players.
