When Eugenie Bouchard’s Sister Beatrice Opened Up About Her Relationship With the Canadian Tennis Star

Bouchard and Beatrice did not always have a good relationship, as they were separated after their parents divorced. The former World No. 5 lived with their mother, while Beatrice, along with their siblings Charlotte and William, lived with their father.

In one interview, Beatrice expressed that their parents’ divorce caused a lot of “tension” within the family.

“My parents got divorced. They weren’t happy together. Genie was with my mom pretty much her whole life. My dad was with me, Charlotte, and Will. We were very separated and it created a lot of tension between my mom and me, between Charlotte and Will, and my dad and Genie,” Beatrice said.

Beatrice revealed that all her life, she was compared to Bouchard, with her own identity slowly fading away, which she said felt “heavy” on her.

“(I) have always been compared to my twin sister my whole life, and that is heavy, let me tell you, it’s heavy. People come up to me (and say), ‘Oh, you’re the sister! You don’t even feel like your own person. I’m just the sister,” she continued.

Beatrice acknowledged that the comparisons were not meant to be hurtful, but they ultimately impacted her “confidence.”

“I know it’s not meant in a malicious (sense), it’s not meant in a bad way. But that definitely affects my confidence, I’m just always, ‘Oh my god, can someone say something different for once?” Beatrice added.
