Bouchard reached her peak in 2014, becoming the first Canadian-born player to make a Grand Slam singles final. Her breakthrough began at the Australian Open, where she upset former world No. 1 Ana Ivanović to reach the semifinals, eventually losing to champion Li Na. That May, she claimed her first WTA singles title at the Nuremberg Cup, beating Karolína Plíšková in the final.
At the French Open, she advanced to the semifinals, falling to eventual champion Maria Sharapova. Bouchard’s biggest moment came at Wimbledon, where she reached the final before losing Petra Kvitová in straight sets. The Canadian’s consistency throughout the 2014 season earned her a career-high ranking of world No. 5 in October.
However, injuries have derailed her career since her breakout season, and she failed to maintain consistency. Besides tennis, Bouchard is also participating in pickleball tournaments and joined the Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) Tour in 2024. Currently, she is ranked No. 12 in the world in the pickleball rankings.
The Canadian also participated in the third edition of the Pickleball Slam, where she partnered former World No. 1 Andy Roddick to compete against legends Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf for a $1 million prize. Agassi and Graf eventually won the event.
