Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have pulled well clear of the rest of the ATP field with their sheer dominance on tour. With a firm stranglehold on all recent Grand Slam titles, they have come to dominate tennis media coverage in recent years, leaving Ethan Quinn weary of the spotlight on the duo.
Ethan Quinn Has No Interest in Listening to Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner Hype
While speaking with former players John Isner, Sam Querrey, and Steve Johnson on their “Nothing Major” podcast, Ethan Quinn disclosed that he regularly tunes in to their episodes and especially appreciates the option to skip to segments that genuinely interest him.
“I listen to it very very often. We appreciate that whoever the editor is that does the bottom thing where I can scroll to like the topic of discussion. You can see like the names, whoever does I’m a big fan of that. Very big fan of that,” Quinn said.
When asked which parts he tends to skip, Quinn admitted he bypasses discussions about Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, suggesting there’s no need for constant hype about them since it is widely accepted that they are “god chosen.”
“You guys were talking about Carlos and Jannik on one of the pods and I was just like well that doesn’t have anything,” Quinn said.
“Like every pod,” Querrey chimed in.
“Yeah. I don’t really want to listen to more Carlos and Jannik talk. We get it that they’re god chosen,” the 22-year-old added.

Ethan Quinn Has ‘Delusional Belief’ in His Ability to Challenge Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner
Although Quinn has yet to face Sinner on tour, he did lock horns with Alcaraz at the 2025 Barcelona Open, where the Spaniard secured a 6-2, 7-6(6) victory. Despite the loss, the American maintained faith in his ability to challenge the sport’s top-ranked duo.
Speaking on the “Cracked Racquets” podcast in December 2025, Quinn expressed his belief that many of his fellow ATP players have accepted that they can’t beat Alcaraz and Sinner. In contrast, the 22-year-old emphasized that he holds a “delusional belief” that he can trouble the two stars and shake up the top of the game.
“I feel like a lot of the guys have started to lose a little bit of hope. Like you can kind of feel it with the amount of complaints and the amount of things that are targeted towards Carlos and Jannik. ‘Oh, they get all these amenities because they requested these,’ and it’s just all this bulls**t basically. And it’s because they realize that, alright we can’t beat them,” Quinn said.
“But I feel like my ball striking is big enough to be able to upset Carlos and Jannik and so I have this delusional belief that as long as I continue to improve the things I need to improve that my ball striking will be able to hurt Carlos and Jannik and that I think I can make some damage at the top of the game,” he added.

On the other hand, Jannik Sinner will square off against Alexander Zverev in the highly anticipated Madrid Open final, while Carlos Alcaraz has ended his clay-court season early due to a wrist injury.
