Emma Raducanu recently reflected on her experiences in Australia after her early exit from the year's first Grand Slam tournament.

Emma Raducanu’s time in Australia came to an end after her early exit from the first Grand Slam tournament of the year. She recently looked back on her experiences in the country. She concluded her 2025 tennis season after competing in the Asian swing of the Tour. Her final tournament of the season was the Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in the first round by wild card Zhu Lin.

She then began her 2026 tennis season in Australia, participating in three tournaments.

Emma Raducanu Shared Fond Memories From Australia After Grand Slam Exit

In Australia, Raducanu represented Great Britain at the 2026 United Cup in Perth, competed in the Hobart International, and the Australian Open. At the United Cup in Perth, she played only one match against Greece’s Maria Sakkari, losing 3-6, 6-3, 1-6.

At the Hobart International, the former US Open champion was the top seed. She started her campaign by defeating Camila Osorio with a score of 6-3, 7-6(2) in the first round. She advanced to the quarterfinals after her second-round opponent, Magdalena Fręch, withdrew from the tournament due to a left thigh injury. In the quarterfinals, she was eliminated by wild card Taylah Preston, losing 2-6, 4-6.

Raducanu’s last tournament in Australia was the 2026 Australian Open. She was seeded 28th at the tournament and began by defeating Mananchaya Sawangkaew 6-4, 6-1 in her first match. Her run ended in the second round when she lost 6-7(3), 2-6 to Anastasia Potapova. Following her campaign at the Melbourne Major, Raducanu took to social media to share a carousel of pictures flaunting how she spent her time in Australia beyond competing in tournaments.

The former World No. 10 posted images from the three tournaments she participated in, as well as moments exploring the country, visiting various cafes and restaurants with friends, and enjoying other activities. “The wall says it best ~ 1/12 in 🇦🇺 🤍 @hydemelbourneplace,” Raducanu captioned her Instagram post.

Looking ahead, Raducanu is expected to compete at the 2026 Transylvania Open. The WTA 250 tournament will be held on indoor hard courts at the BT Arena in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, from February 1 to February 7, 2026.

In addition to Raducanu, players such as defending champion Anastasia Potapova, Anna Bondár, Olga Danilović, Elena-Gabriela Ruse, Sara Sorribes Tormo, Donna Vekić, and Wang Xinyu, among others, are also expected to compete at the Transylvania Open.

Raducanu last competed at the Transylvania Open in 2021, the inaugural edition. She was the third seed, and she began her campaign by defeating Polona Hercog in the first round with a scoreline of 4-6, 7-5, 6-1. She then eliminated Ana Bogdan in the second round with a score of 6-3, 6-4. Her campaign came to an end when she fell to sixth seed Marta Kostyuk with a score of 2-6, 1-6.
