How Is Emma Raducanu Preparing for the Hobart International?

After an up-and-down 2025, Raducanu would look for better results in 2026. The 2021 US Open champion is the top seed for the first time in her career at the upcoming tournament.

With the Australian Open less than a week away, the Hobart International will serve as a vital event for Raducanu. She feels that she is in good shape and is looking to sharpen her skills and fine-tune her preparations for the first Grand Slam of the year.

Raducanu spoke with Tennis Australia about her pre-season preparations and goals for the Hobart International.

“So far, I’ve been practicing pretty well. I started my preseason pretty late, so for me it’s all about sharpening up and tuning up as much as I can. I hope this week can be a good one for that.”

The conditions in Hobart could prove to be challenging for Raducanu and the other contenders, with high winds combined with soaring temperatures set to push the players to their limits.

“The wind is quite strong here, so getting used to that is a big thing. It’s a lot of adapting and improvising. You probably have to accept that you’re not going to feel like you’re hitting the ball amazingly all the time. It’s all part of the skill set you need to play in all types of conditions. It’ll be a good test and challenge.”

Raducanu is still searching for her first WTA Tour-level title since her 2021 US Open triumph. She’d hope that being the top seed would work in her favor as she looks to get some momentum on her side ahead of the Australian Open.

Emma Raducanu’s Projected Path at Hobart International

If Raducanu manages to beat Camila Osorio in the first round, she faces Magdalena Frech or Elsa Jacquemot in the Round of 16. The Brit could then face wildcard Taylah Preston after her upset win over fifth seed Jéssica Bouzas Maneiro. Other possible opponents for Raducanu in the quarterfinals are Varvara Gracheva and Rebecca Šramková.

Either the third seed, Iva Jovic, or the eighth seed, Magda Linette, could be among Raducanu’s semifinal opponents.
