USTA CEO Explains the Reason Behind Backing the Engaging Mixed Doubles Line-Up

Following the release of the exciting mixed doubles lineups for the upcoming US Open, the USTA CEO and executive director, Lew Sherr, explained why the star-studded list was approved. According to him, this year’s major event at the Arthur Ashe Stadium will focus on bringing the top-ranked pros from both ATP and WTA against each other.

“In our initial discussions about reimagining and elevating the US Open Mixed Doubles Championship, we wanted to find a way to showcase the world’s best men and women competing with and against one another, and we were confident that we would be able to get the top players in the game excited about this unique opportunity,” he said.

The event is set to kick off on Sunday, Aug. 24, after the contestants are done with the ongoing grass court swing.
