Emma Navarro Makes Her Feelings Crystal Clear on Being Called a Billionaire Heiress – ‘I Didn’t Grow Up Being Handed Things’

Emma Navarro recently opened up about her status as a billionaire heiress and shared details of her upbringing in a candid interview.

Emma Navarro, one of the four Americans ranked within the women’s top 10, has bared it all about her upbringing as a billionaire’s daughter during a recent interview.

Navarro, 24, is the daughter of billionaire Ben Navarro, who founded Sherman Financial Group in 1998 and built it into a credit card and debt collection empire. Ben is worth $4.8 billion, as per Forbes, and also owns two prestigious tennis tournaments, the Charleston Open and the Cincinnati Open.

Emma Navarro Addressed Growing Up As the Daughter of a Billionaire

In a recent interview with Tatler Magazine, Emma Navarro stressed that despite growing up as the daughter of a billionaire, she was never “handed things.”

“I don’t read anything. I don’t read the comments, the articles, any of that stuff. I don’t know what the fans are saying. There will be headlines and they kind of mention that [her father’s billionaire status], which is fine, but I didn’t grow up being handed things.”

Navarro added that her parents instilled in her the importance of a strong work ethic.

“We grew up in a sort of traditional way. We’d get up at 6 am on a Saturday morning and go play tennis… growing up, it was a priority that we learnt toughness and we learnt work ethic and how to be intentional and purposeful and live productive lives.”

The World No. 10, who has earned over $4 million in career prize money, firmly conveyed that she doesn’t particularly enjoy being called the daughter of a billionaire.

“I don’t love being referred to as whoever with however much money’s daughter. It’s a label I don’t really like.”

Navarro Has Fared Consistently in the 2025 Tennis Season

Emma Navarro has had a fairly promising run on the WTA circuit this season. She made it to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open, where she was dispatched in two routine sets by Iga Swiatek. Thereafter, she won her second singles title at the Merida Open with a dominating 6-0, 6-0 victory over Emiliana Arango in the final.

The American failed to perform well during the European clay court swing and was bundled out in the first round of the French Open by an inspired Jessica Bouzas Maneiro.

However, Navarro has shown signs of good form during the grass swing, especially at the Bad Homburg Open in Germany. She made it all the way to the quarterfinals, where she was defeated by fellow billionaire heiress Jessica Pegula.

In her first round match at Wimbledon, Emma Navarro faced Petra Kvitova, a two-time champion at the All-England Club.

The 35-year-old Kvitova, who is set to retire at the end of this year’s US Open, showed signs of the scintillating stroke play that saw her win two titles, but Navarro had the last laugh, edging out the win 6-3, 6-1. The 24-year-old will face Veronika Kudermetova in the second round on Thursday, July 3.
