Björklund and Shapovalov, both professional tennis players, have been in a relationship since 2019. They got engaged in July 2023 during a romantic moment in Bastad, Sweden. The couple has been open about their plans to marry in 2025, with Shapovalov confirming the timeline during the 2024 Wimbledon Championships.

In an interview with the Tennis Channel, he mentioned, “I think she’s doing much more of it than I am. But I think it’s going well. Obviously, getting married next year, and we’re preparing, we’re getting ready, sending the invites and stuff, so, things are moving along.” He then went on to note that the wedding would be “very small and intimate,” with “no pros invited, mainly just family and friends from really long time ago.”

Leading up to the wedding, Björklund has been sharing glimpses of her bridal preparations. In December 2024, she visited a bridal boutique with her sister and mother to try on stunning white gowns, expressing her excitement on Instagram. In February 2025, she posted a picture from a visit to the wedding venue, though she did not disclose its location.

Shapovalov recently concluded his 2025 US Open campaign. Seeded 27th at the Major, he cruised past Márton Fucsovics and Valentin Royer to reach the third round, where he faced top seed and defending champion, Jannik Sinner. Despite taking the first set 7-5, the Canadian ultimately fell to a gruelling 7-5, 4-6, 3-6, 3-6 defeat.

Since then, she has struggled to advance beyond qualifying rounds. Her most recent appearance came at the Madrid Open in May 2025, where she exited in the first round of qualifying.
