Danielle Collins provided an update on what she is up to during her break from tennis. The American’s last tournament was the Charleston Open, where she made it to the quarterfinals.
Following this, Collins withdrew from the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix and the Madrid Open. She was also scheduled to compete for the United States in the Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers but opted out, along with Jessica Pegula and McCartney Kessler.

Before the Charleston Open, Collins competed in the North American hardcourt swing, enduring a third-round elimination in indian Wells while losing in the fourth round of the Miami Open.
The former Top-10 player aimed to defend her title at the Charleston Open and defeated Robin Montgomery and Jelena Ostapenko in the second and third rounds, respectively, before being bested by eventual champion Jessica Pegula in the quarterfinals. This has been her last appearance on the WTA Tour till date, having withdrawn from the tournaments in Stuttgart and Madrid.
On Sunday, Apr. 27, Collins took to social media to share glimpses of her off-court activities. She posted photos of her pet dog, Quincy, as well as a peanut butter cookie recipe she was seemingly trying to make, among others.

Collins is next expected to participate at the 2025 Italian Open, although her withdrawals from the last few tournaments have cast doubt on her participation.
The WTA 1000 clay court tournament in Rome is set to take place from May 6, 2025, to May 18, 2025, on the outdoor clay courts at the Foro Italico in Rome. Apart from the former World No. 7, the players who are expected to compete at the clay court tournament include Aryna Sabalenka, defending champion Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff, and Jasmine Paolini among others.
In 2024, Collins was seeded 13th and began her campaign in the second round following a first-round bye. She defeated Anna Blinkova with a score of 6-4, 0-0 retd. In the first round and then overcame 22nd seed Caroline Garcia with a score of 6-3, 6-3, and Irina-Camelia Begu 6-0, 6-3 in the second and third rounds, respectively.
In the quarterfinals, the former World No. 7 triumphed over 24th seed Victoria Azarenka 6-4, 6-3 and advanced to the semifinals where she was defeated by second seed and eventual runner-up Aryna Sabalenka 7-5, 6-2.
