Who Is Coaching Mirra Andreeva at Wimbledon? All You Need To Know About the Former Champion in Her Box

As Mirra Andreeva hunts her first Grand Slam title at the Wimbledon, here is a look at her coach and rest of her team.

Russian teenager and World No. 7 Mirra Andreeva faces Emma Navarro in the fourth round at Wimbledon 2025, with a quarterfinal spot on the line. The 18-year-old has bounced back from her first-round exit at SW19 in 2024.

Andreeva has dominated the 2025 season with WTA 1000 titles in Dubai and Indian Wells. She reached the Australian Open semifinals in the doubles tournament, made the quarterfinals at Roland Garros, and now sits three wins away from her first Wimbledon final. Her coach, Conchita Martínez, has been the steady presence guiding this breakthrough year.

Who Is Conchita Martínez and Why Does She Matter to Andreeva’s Success?

Martínez began coaching Andreeva in April 2024 at the suggestion of the Russian’s IMG agent. The 53-year-old Spaniard knows what it takes to win at Wimbledon, having captured the singles title in 1994 by beating 18-time Major champion Martina Navratilova in the final. She reached a career-high ranking of World No. 2 the following year.

Martínez has built an elite coaching resume, particularly at Wimbledon. She guided former World No. 1 Garbiñe Muguruza to the 2017 title and earned WTA Coach of the Year honors in 2021 during their second partnership. She also worked with Karolina Pliskova from 2018 to 2019.

The partnership with Andreeva represents Martínez’s latest project with a young talent. At 18, the Russian is 35 years younger than her coach, but their age gap hasn’t prevented them from finding immediate chemistry on court.

How Does Andreeva’s Support Team Function Beyond Martínez?

Andreeva has been training at the ALL IN Academy in Villeneuve-Loubet on the French Riviera since 2023. When Martínez’s absence requires it, academy head coach Julie Coin steps in to work with the teenager. The academy provides a stable base for her year-round training.

Azuz Simcich currently oversees Andreeva’s fitness and conditioning program. Simcich brings elite experience to the role, having worked with 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina for nearly three years before their February split amid the controversy involving banned coach Stefano Vukov.

The Russian also added coach Kirill Kryukov to her team in 2024. This multi-coach approach gives Andreeva different perspectives and expertise areas while maintaining consistency in her development.

What Makes the Martínez-Andreeva Partnership Work?

Speaking to the BBC at Wimbledon, Martínez explained her coaching philosophy with the young Russian. She maintains clear boundaries while building a strong relationship with her player.

“I’m her coach, that’s the only way. Can you be friends? Yes. We have a great relationship. But I’m the one there on the tennis court, changing things and making her improve. I’m the one overseeing her whole career. I’m in charge of finding everything around her that will work to make her better player,” she said.

The approach has paid dividends in 2025. Andreeva won her first WTA 1000 titles and reached the Australian Open semifinals in the doubles tournament. Her ranking jumped from outside the top 20 to No. 7 in the world during this breakthrough season.

Andreeva’s next test comes against World No. 10 Emma Navarro in their second career meeting. The Russian holds a 1-0 head-to-head advantage over the American, having won their previous encounter in straight sets at the Cincinnati Open in 2024. A victory would put her in the Wimbledon quarterfinals for the first time.”
