Team USA has dominantly entered the 2026 United Cup tournament, which is currently taking place across Perth and Sydney from January 2 to 11, featuring elite players from 18 countries competing for glory. The team from the United States won the inaugural United Cup title in 2023 and went on to win it again in 2025.
Gauff made her debut in 2025, headlining the team alongside ATP star Taylor Fritz and others, and has returned with Fritz and others. This time, she impressively led the team to victory against Argentina, beating Solana Sierra in singles and surpassing Maria Lourdes Carle and Guido Andreozzi in doubles with the current World No. 15 in doubles, Christian Harrison.
However, during the press conference in Perth, Gauff was asked questions about whether she’s seeing support from US fans in international tournaments, considering the events that will be taking place in Australian cities.

She continued, sharing the reasons for receiving less support from her homeland, “But I also think it’s just because of our country is good in so many sports, so it’s just hard. I definitely think there are Americans that come out more in Melbourne than necessarily here, but I would like to see some more Americans.”

In the next match, Team USA is set to face Spain on January 5 in Perth; Spain will face the USA after suffering a defeat to Argentina in their first match.
