Fresh off his Sunshine Double triumph, Jannik Sinner wasted no time adapting to clay, delivering a stellar campaign at the 2026 Monte-Carlo Masters to clinch his maiden ATP Masters 1000 title on the surface. His dominant showing earned widespread praise, with fellow stars like Coco Gauff and Novak Djokovic also showering him with compliments.
How Coco Gauff and Novak Djokovic Reacted to Jannik Sinner’s Monte-Carlo Masters Victory
Jannik Sinner stormed into the Monte-Carlo Masters final by triumphing over Ugo Humbert, Tomáš Macháč, Felix Auger-Aliassime, and Alexander Zverev, setting up his first meeting of the season with Carlos Alcaraz. With the world No. 1 ranking at stake, the 24-year-old battled the windy conditions admirably to claim a 7-6(5), 6-3 victory in two hours and 15 minutes.
The Italian joined an elite list with his win, becoming only the second player after Novak Djokovic in 2015 to win the Miami Open and Monte-Carlo Masters titles consecutively. The 24-time Grand Slam champion himself displayed his appreciation for the feat, commenting, “Very strong 💪 Bravo Jannik 👏” on Sinner’s celebratory Instagram post.
Sinner’s win drew praise from across the tennis world. Coco Gauff showed her support with applause emojis, while Alcaraz graciously described the victory as “well-deserved.” Boris Becker also extended his congratulations, while Fabio Fognini ribbed his compatriot about joining him as a Monte-Carlo Masters champion.

Meanwhile, Andre Agassi and Gauff’s former coach, Brad Gilbert, lavished praise on Sinner for becoming only the third player, after Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, to win four consecutive Masters 1000 titles.
“Congrats 🍾 to Sin City 🌆 @janniksin 1st MC trophy 🏆 4th straight master series title joining Vamos Rafa and Djoker as only to do it,” Gilbert posted on X.
Carlos Alcaraz Lauds Jannik Sinner’s ‘Difficult’ Achievement
Alcaraz also voiced his admiration for his arch-rival during his runner-up speech, emphasizing how “difficult” and rare it is to achieve what Sinner did across the Sunshine Double and the Monte-Carlo Masters.
“It is impressive what you are achieving right now,” Alcaraz said during the trophy presentation. “Just one man had won the ‘Sunshine Double’ and Monte-Carlo and you are now the second. It is something incredible and I just experienced how difficult it is. Congratulations for everything and the work you are doing with your team.”

Sinner, in turn, was very complimentary of the Spaniard in his post-match press conference. He acknowledged that he will need to be prepared for all improvements Alcaraz will likely make before their next showdown.
“It was a good match from him, and also from me,” Sinner said. “There are small things that he is going to improve for the next match against me, and I have to be ready for that.”
While Carlos Alcaraz will now turn his attention to the ATP 500 Barcelona Open, Jannik Sinner is set to enjoy a short break before returning to action at the Madrid Open, which kicks off on April 22.
